Deer out and about during the warm stretch of the calendar

“It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want—oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!”

The leader in all natural deer, mosquito, and tick control, ohDEER, which launched in 2007, is now in its second decade in business.

Through our corporate office, and our ohDEER franchisee locations, we service an area of geography that takes in Central Massachusetts and all points east in the state, including Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, and the East End of Long Island, NY, and Central New Jersey.

April has arrived in ohDEER territory, and with it spring is ramping up, following the technical start of the season which was March 20 this year.

Spring is a time of which we, and here we employ the words of Mr. Twain, “want it so!”

Spring is a time of special observance for among the great religions of the world.  It is a time of the Easter season and Passover and Ramadan.

We at ohDEER work throughout the year, applying and administering our proprietary all-natural solutions that keep your property free of deer and mosquitoes and ticks.

Yet, for sure, during the warmer months of the year, when more people are outdoors, there is a more direct and immediate need for ohDEER services.

Hand-in-hand are the business of ohDEER and an affection and appreciation for the outdoors and nature.

Year-round, deer venture on to people’s home and business properties to snack and much on plants.  Deer are always on the move.  They do not like, however, to move on to and visit a property that ohDEER has treated.

During the late fall and through winter and early spring, mosquitoes and ticks – both disease carriers and transmitters – are, for the most part, sedentary and hunkered down.

Mosquitoes make it through the cold stretch of the calendar underground, in the egg or larval stage.  A physical connection to water, even in its frozen state, is necessary for mosquitoes of all stages to survive.  This is why ohDEER advises that it is always a good time to remove standing water from your property – whether that water is solid or liquid.

Ticks also survive the stretch of cold and chill underground, or under other cover, or in leaf litter, or attached to a host, such as a deer, burrowed in under the protection of hair.

They never go away – not the mosquitoes, not the ticks.

Nor do deer, which is a good thing, as long as they aren’t making meals of your shrubs or tree leaves or flowers, or giving ticks a ride.

But the full complement of the creatures that ohDEER battles is now stirring.

Afoot now in nature and in the movement of earth are the conditions that are rousing ticks and mosquitoes.

For we are in spring, the season of rebirth and hope, of flowering and fluorescence, of days getting warmer and longer.

ohDEER is here and available to help you safely benefit from and enjoy all of it.
